Shannon--William Shackelfford, 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and hiss family. He was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Shannon. He was an individual that was skilled at so many things. Over his lifetime, he had several businesses that included a home construction business, a service station, and a TV and radio repair services. He worked at Shannon Steel for a number of years where he was a jack of all trades. He could build and repair anything and did so not only for himself and his family, but also his church family and many others in the community.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Manley Officiating. Burial will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters; Lee Menard (David) of Houston, Tex., Jan Chalk (Shelly) of Mobile, Ala., and Lisa Bell (Tim) of Tupelo; his brother Irie Eugene Shackeloford of Iuka and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Stevenson Shackelford; his mother, Lila Mae SShackelford; his brother, Johnny Kay Shackelford; and his sister, Della Virginia Rhinehart.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lindley, Bobby Stafford, Tim Morgan, Donald Keith, Joey Byars, and Allen Rhinehart.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
