Fred Everitt, Jr.
Tupelo – William Fred Everitt, Jr., 103, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from The Meadows in Fulton. He was born November 13, 1920, in Quitman County to Fred, Sr. and Nell Everitt. He married the love of his life, Evelyn, in 1942 and that union lasted 67 years. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1942 where he majored in Business and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge, he and Evelyn settled back down in Quitman County and he co-owned a pharmacy and soda fountain. He also was the head of a knitting company. They moved to Tupelo in 1960 and he went to work for Williams Transfer and Storage as their warehouse Manager, retiring at the age of 80. Fred loved to travel, hunt and fish, play dominoes, work puzzles and anything outdoors.
Services will be 1 PM Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Grant officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his two sons, Dr. Fred Everitt, III of Tupelo and Lee Everitt (Kathy) of Iuka; two grandchildren, Jessica Koehn (Ross) and Eric Everitt (Lindsey).
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; one sister, Mary Kate Everitt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will be 12 – 1 Saturday.
