Okolona - Wayne Carrol "Sonny" Earnest, 73, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 21, 1936 to Woodrow and Eula Earnest. He was a lifelong resident of Okolona. He was a retired farmer and owned and operated Earnest Discount Grocery for many years. He was a member of Van Vleet Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.Services will be 2 PM Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Waymon Betts officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.Survivors include two daughters, Stacy Hammett of Cordova, TN and Tina Earnest Murphy (Kelly) of Okolona; one son Coty Lynn Earnest of Okolona; one step-daughter Linda Jackson (Rex) of Okolona; one step-son Ricky Blissard of Okolona; one sister Doris Gaskin (John) of Okolona; one brother William G. Earnest (Peggy) of Okolona; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Annie Lois Earnest, two brothers Woodrow Earnest, Jr. and Harold L. Earnest.Pallbearers will be Jackie Hall, Lamar Phillips, Tim Berry, Roy Hill, Jeff Worthy and Jerry Papkie. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Gaskin, Chet Gaskin, Terry Gaskin, Jason Cruse, Will Earnest, Sammy Lee Earnest, Mitch Earnest and Pete Earnest.Visitation will be 5 - 8 Thursday.
