Walter Jones, 72, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at the north MS Medical center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Tennessee on October 5, 1950, to Vance and Lucille Jones. He was a self employed painter for all of his adult life. He enjoyed listening to music and drinking beer, watching movies and anything science related. He was a big joker and loved to make people laugh. He loved telling crazy stories and would give anyone and everyone a crazy nickname. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be 5 PM Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his two children, Melanie Jones (Ben Helton) of Pontotoc and Keith Jones of Collierville, TN; his siblings, Earline Jones, Elise Jones, Robert Jones, Vickie Ensco, Bobbie Wilson, Billie Jones, Letitia Burke and Chris Billingsley; four grandchildren, Dylan Gale, Autumn Kramer (Rodney), Reghan McCarthy Tyson (Connor) and Tyler Helton; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlene Jones; three siblings, Joann Kimble, Allen Jones and Barbara Moore.
