Obituary

Thomas Daniel "Danny" Booth Sr., 81, passed away peacefully Friday, February 20, 2026, at his home in Plantersville, MS after an extended illness. He was born to William Foster Booth Sr. and Flossie Bates Booth on July 29, 1944, in Tupelo, MS. Danny attended and graduated from Tupelo High School where he was a football standout for the Golden Wave. Afterward, he attended junior college where he also played football at Itawamba Junior College in 1963 and 1964. He also served as a manager for the baseball team during his two years at IJC.
Danny is an Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War as a combat engineer from July 1966 - September 1967 in the 1st Calvary Division. After a brief stint in the private sector with Triangle Distributors, he later re-enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard as a full-time active-duty soldier until he retired from the military after 20 years of additional service. He finished his career as a Purchaser for M & W Manufacturing in Tupelo. Danny was proud of his military service, and he served his fellow veterans as President of the Tupelo Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America. While in that role, Danny also was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Veterans Replica Memorial Wall to Veterans Park in Tupelo.
He was a member of Plantersville Global Methodist Church. He was a philanthropist at heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Danny volunteered frequently at the church and assisted in the community's meal delivery program to the homeless and people of need in addition to several other charities that he supported. He was an avid football fan and refereed high school football for 33 years. He enjoyed motorcycles, watching old westerns, listening to Christian music, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Booth of Plantersville; daughter, Heather Booth Alegria (Jorge) of Charolette, NC; son, Thomas Daniel Booth, Jr. (Tresa) of Cockrum, MS; two grandchildren, Elena Alegria and Sofia Alegria of Charolette, NC; brother, Larry Booth (Linda) of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Foster Booth Jr.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona, MS with Bro. Lynn Fair and Bro. Jeremy Funderburk officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5PM - 7PM Monday, February 23, 2026 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home.
