Mooreville - Terry Shane Hicks, 23, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Starkville. He was born July 21, 1986 to Terry and Jimmie Hicks and a lifelong resident of Lee County. He was a 2004 graduate of Mooreville High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a 2008 graduate of Mississippi State University earning his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He was currently in his second semester of graduate school at MSU pursuing his Masters. He was a member of Auburn Baptist Church where he was active in the youth group and was currently attending Calvary Baptist Church. His hobbies were playing golf, snowboarding, playing basketball and attending MSU sporting events especially baseball and basketball. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and also of LeBron James. He enjoyed traveling especially to visit his aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania and he also spent one semester studying and traveling in Spain. He loved spending time with his family and especially his niece, Abby Grace. His favorite pastime was hanging out with his friends and roommates at "The 505" in Starkville.Services will be 1 PM Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. David Eldridge and Bro. Jimmy Henry officiating. Bro. Austin Kimbrough will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his mother Jimmie Benefield Hicks of Mooreville; his sister April Hicks Gonzales of Tupelo; his niece Abby Grace Gonzales of Tupelo; his grandmothers Vickie Hicks of Mooreville and Janie Benefield of Tupelo; his aunts and uncles Larry and Marilyn Hicks of Mooreville, Phillip and Susan Hicks of Mooreville, Danny Benefield of Smithville, Debra and Doyle Bradley of Mooreville, Judy and Richard Royce of Bethlehem, PA, Pauline and Barry Smith of Fulton, Lynn and Thomas Mize of Saltillo and Sonja and Jimbo Byars of Houlka; his cousins Tracy Wilburn, Kim Root, Jessie Hicks, Lauren Hicks, Tucker Hicks, Carson Hicks, Kim Bradley, Cathy Bradley, Will Smith, Casey Smith, Maegan Mize, Joby Byars and Sawyer Byars; his special brothers, Gabby Figueroa and Ben Lindsey.He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Hicks; his grandfathers Hubert Hicks and William Benefield.Pallbearers will be Russ Tally, Lance Tally, Jim Tally, Cody Cayson, Joe Konieczny, Carlos Hereford and Titus Penro. Honorary pallbearers will be his roommates at "The 505", Scott DeLoach, Jonathan Chaney, Connor Powers, Sterling White, Ryan Duffy, John Michael Rollins and Dan Mobley; his friends at MSU, the Mooreville High School Class of 2004 and the 2001-2004 basketball teams.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abby Grace Gonzales Education Fund at Trustmark Bank P.O.
