Obituary

Mooreville - Sammie L. Floyd, 79, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Lee County on June 19, 1930 to Oscar and Myrtle Floyd. He was a longtime truck driver, driving for Olympic Products for 26 years and later for Clark Truck Line. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and playing dominoes with his friends. He was a faithful member of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.Services will be 1 PM Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Merle Floyd and Bro. Ronnie Martin officiating. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.Survivors include his wife, Betty Floyd of Mooreville; two daughters, Edith Diane (Bill) Owens of Bigbee and Sandra (William) Edwards of Mooreville; two sons, Lewis (Tiffany) Floyd of Mooreville and Brandon Paul (Amy) Floyd of Booneville; four brothers, Raymond Floyd of Baldwyn, Bobby (Hattie) Floyd of Blue Springs, Jerry (Jannie) Floyd of Guntown and Hoyt Ray (Marie) Floyd of Houston; one sister, Jewel Rowe of Baldwyn; 14 grandchildren, Christy Arnold, Amy Barnes, Andrea Harris, Tonya Beasley, Anthony Daniels, Amanda Floyd, Scott Floyd, Mandi Guthrie, Ashley Floyd, Courtney Edwards, Micheal Edwards, Tyler Floyd, Beth Floyd and Morgan Bowden; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Floyd; two brothers, Archie Floyd and James Floyd and one sister, Loretta Floyd.
