ShannonRuby Dickens, 90, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany after an extended illness. She was born December 23, 1922, in Sledge to John and Wilma Watson. She lived for many years in Indiana where she worked for Sullair Corporation until her retirement. She then returned to Shannon where she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing and fishing. She was the widow of Vernon Dickens to whom she was married for over 30 years.
Services will be 2 pm Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughters, Minnie Ruth Savage of Shannon and Mary Ann Seely; two brothers, David Watson of Baldwyn and John Watson of Saltillo; five grandchildren, Vickie Phillips Weaver (Jerry) of Tupelo, Kathy Scott (J.R.) of North Carolina, Barbara Keith (Tim) of Verona, Randy Tarwater and Shawna Whitman, both of Alabama; eight great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Thurman Savage, two sisters, Sara and Patty Tramel; and a brother, Charles Watson.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Saturday.
