Obituary

Robert Davidson, 59, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at North MS Medical Center, Hospice Unit. He was born August 31, 1963 in Tupelo to Jiggs and Jean Witcher Davidson. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1981, Northeast Jr. College in 1983 and Ole Miss in 1986. Robert was the ultimate sports fan, but baseball was his passion. He coached the Bissel Beast 9U Travel team for several years. Whether it be in the field playing, in his younger days, in the stands or behind a camera, he loved baseball, Especially Ole Miss Rebels Baseball. He just couldn't sit at home while the Rebels played in the 2022 College World Series, so he and his family made the 800 mile trip to Omaha to watch as his Rebels claimed the National Championship. As a longtime North MS journalist, he oversaw many stories in this area for many years. He had worked for WTVA, WBBJ in Jackson, TN and WCBI and served as the news director for many years. He was recently awarded the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mississippi Broadcasting Association. His greatest love was his family and his Great Danes.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1- 3 Saturday June 3, 2023, at Cadence Bank Conference Center, East Hall. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julia Wheeler Davidson of Belden; two sons, Parker Elliott Davidson (Kayla Wilson) of Tupelo and Morgan Lake Davidson of Belden; one sister, Jackie Lindsey (Billy) of Saltillo; one brother, Dr. C.L. Davidson (Dawn) of Booneville; one sister-in-law, Penny Young of Pontotoc; a niece, Lauren Null (Gabe); three nephews, Dr. Max Davidson (Sabrina), Dr. James Raleigh Davidson (Dr. Sarah) and Davis Lindsey (Kellye); 10 great-nieces and great-nephews and his extended broadcasting family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two Great Danes, Razor and Odin.
