Obituary

Ralph Shultz, age 100, of Tupelo, MS passed away peacefully March 8, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Verona, MS with Rev. Ron Richardson officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Shultz was born on April, 23, 1917 in Pitcairn, PA to the late George Greaser Shultz and Jennie Johnston Shultz both of Pennsylvania. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Tupelo, MS. Mr. Shultz was a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in Pharmacy. In his early career he worked as a pharmacist and later worked for many years as a detail rep. for Squibb Pharmaceutical Co. He loved to play golf and was a member of the Tupelo Country Club for many years. He was an avid supporter of Ole Miss Sports and an excellent fly fisherman. He was a student of the stock market and learned modern technology in order to follow it daily. He was blessed to celebrate his 100th birthday and 75th wedding anniversary with his wife Flora and many loving family members in 2017.
Mr. Shultz was an Air Force officer and navigator on the B24 Liberator bomber during WWII and flew many missions over Germany. His plane, with all 8 crew members aboard, was shot down and he spent 18 months as a POW.
Mr. Shultz is survived by his devoted wife Flora Harrell Shultz of Quitman, MS., daughters Pam Shultz Garrick (Gene) of Columbus MS. and Jenny Shultz Irwin (Dr David) of Tupelo MS.; grandchildren Angie Garrick Maxwell (David), Lori Garrick Grant (Ricky), Jordan Irwin Justus (Nick) and Catherine Irwin Cross (Mike); great-grandchildren Reese and Kadi Maxwell, Jayme, Harrison and Macy Kate Grant, David Brayden Hauser, and James David Cross. The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers, Nellie Betts, Santerrica Berry, Ledell Blanchard, Glorius Brooks, Vernetta Brown, Nadine Evans and Sarah Terry.
