Obituary

Phillip McCoy Johnson, 74, of Shannon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, after a long illness.

Phillip (Phil) was born on December 29, 1951. He attended Arkansas State University, where he furthered his education. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to Tecumseh before retiring.

Phil had a passion for life and enjoyed traveling, cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, taking cruises, and spending time riding his motorcycle in his younger days. He treasured the memories he made with family and friends and will be remembered for the relationships he built throughout his life.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Johnson of Palestine, Arkansas; his stepmother, Doris Johnson; brothers, Jeff Johnson and Doug Lansford; and his beloved grandparents, Tom and Mirl Johnson.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Virginia Brown of Saltillo, Mississippi; his stepfather, Edward Brown, who preceded him in death; his brother Travis Lansford of Forrest City, Arkansas; many dear family members, special cousins, and cherished friends who will miss him deeply.

Services will be Monday, July 6, 20026 at 11:00 am at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Billy West officiating. Inurnment will be in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum at Lee Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sanctuary Hospice House or charity of choice.
