TUPELO - Merle Rogers, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Piave to Robert Ford and Nellie Burns Mapp Boutwell. She was a graduate of Runnelstown High School and Bloomfield College. She was a registered nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center for 32 years, retiring in 1991 as the Affiliate Hospital Nursing Director. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo, and she loved to play bridge.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Glenn (Dale) of Mooreville; her son, William R. "Dick" Rogers of Tupelo; a daughter-in-law, Roberta F. Rogers of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess B. Rogers Sr.; her son, Jesse Byron Rogers Jr.; and a brother, Robert F. Boutwell Jr.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
