Melissa Ann Bazzel Winter, 80, of Tupelo, passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1943 to the late Earl and Birdie Bazzel. She was a member of West Mooreville Baptist Church where she was the pianist until her health declined. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, family get-togethers, and she loved her special 3 legged kitty; Baby Cat.
She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Robert Winter; three daughters, Regina Long (Hoyt) Delora Carruthers, and Donna Francis (Bruce); nine grandchildren, Brandon Long (Linda), Mindy Luna (Paul), Ashley Armstrong (Jon), Randy Kennedy, Anthony Kennedy (Shayla), Justin Francis, Miranda Garret (Jade), Josh Francis (Baleigh), and Marissa Francis; 13 great grandchildren; three more great grandchildren on the way; 3 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Glass, Nancy Viall, and Jesse King; a special former granddaughter-in-law, Mallory Kitchens; two special nieces, Deb and Carley Jackson; life long best friend, Linda Myrick.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Travis Bazzel.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 10, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Lee Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at 3:00pm Thursday May 11, 2023 in the chapel with Bro. Billy Myrick and Bro. Bubba Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Long, Randy Kennedy, Justin Francis, Josh Francis, Anthony Kennedy, and Brayton Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Johnson, Vick Meadowbrook, Mickey Glass, Bob Howell, and Jammie Grisham.
A special thank you to Dr. Brad Crosswhite, Nurse Kim Bagwell, the 4th floor nurses and 5th floor Hospice nurses at NMMC, Stephanie and Hannah from Three Rivers, and Cooks Health Care in New Albany.
