Pontotoc - Maxie "Max" Gordon, 66, died Tuesday, May 05, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, TN. He was born January 21, 1943 in Smithville to the late Melvin D. and Mary Eloise Gordon. He was a United States Army Veteran and a truck driver for N.C. Wood Products. He was a member of Holy Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first great-great-grandchild. He enjoyed collecting coins, guns and knives. He was very proud of his Native American Heritage and was known as "soaring hawk."Services will be 2 P.M. Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park with Military Honors.Survivors include his wife, Christine Gordon of Pontotoc; two sons, Josh (April) Gordon and Michael Gordon all of Fulton; one daughter, Dana Milner of Hattiesburg; one step-son, Donnie Hamm (Fianc Jo Anne Tidwell) of Pontotoc; two step-daughters, Phyllis Swayne of Memphis, TN and Pat (Mike) Cruse of Pontotoc; one sister, Pat Noe of Fulton; one brother, Jimmy Wayne (Deanna) Gordon of Fulton; ten grandchildren, Chandler, Dakota, Dominique, Ruthie, Tracy, Leigh, Cathy, Tina, Dana and Chad; (17) great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Billy Hamm, Mike Snow, David Orman, Donald Tackett, Cody Eaves and Jason Horne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clint Hamm and Clay Criddle.
