TupeloMary Jeanette Copeland Simpson, 89, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born January 27, 1923, in Baldwyn to Sam and Sally Mae Nichols Copeland. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, she served her country during World War II from 1944-45. Following the war, she lived in Memphis for many years, working for the Veterans Administration Hospital as a medical secretary. She lived in the Lee County area for over 30 years and was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Services will be 11 am Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Henry Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Michael Edward Simpson (Terri) of Griffin, GA
two sisters, Mildred Christian and Elizabeth Lindley, both of Shannon; one brother, Robert Copeland of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Patrick Simpson (Kimberly) of Ashland, Joan Kuykendall (Kenneth) of Thaxton and Kathleen Simpson of Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joyce Mevaline Allan and Loretta Perry; and a brother, Hoyle Copeland.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
