SHANNON - Martha McKinney, 81, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born April 18, 1930, in Greenville to Burney and Mary Lou Robbins. She was a longtime insurance agent in Okolona. She was a faithful member of Shannon United Methodist Church where she served on the administrative board, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served and chaired on various committees. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, sports and music. She was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan and loved spending time with her family.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris McAlilly and Rev. Truman Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Jim McKinney (Sue) of Ocean Springs, Tim McKinney (Tempi) of Fulton and Ken McKinney (Kathy) of Houston, Texas; one sister, Connie Miller of Shannon; eight grandchildren, Megan Coker (Matt), Patrick McKinney, Justin McKinney, Sean McKinney, Erin Burgett (Nathan), Kyla Grace, Alexis Orrick and Elizabeth Orrick; and one great-grandchild, Madilyn Coker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Horace McKinney.
Pallbearers will be Patrick McKinney, Justin McKinney, Matt Coker, Buster Shamlin, Trey Shamlin and Richard Buckner.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
