Verona - Martha Hood, 67, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus after a lengthy illness. She was born August 30, 1942 in Columbus to Lonnie and Peggy Langford. She was a homemaker and a seamstress working for Amory Garment, Sharp Garment and Burris Chair Factory. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and playing solitaire on the computer. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Services will be 11 AM Monday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Hatley Cemetery.Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Wiley Hood, Jr. of Verona; three daughters, Candus Red (Tommy) Whitaker of Shannon, Mary Melissia Warren of Nettleton and Lisa Marie Langford of Columbus; one son, Gerald (Angela) Hood of Amory; her mother-in-law Aline Marie Hood of Aberdeen; two sisters, Mary Lucas (John) McDill of Columbus and Bonnie Hudson Silas of San Antonio, TX; one brother Jerry (Linda) Langford of Columbus; one brother-in-law Coy Wayne Hood of Aberdeen; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Charlotte Lucille Hood, a grandson Kyle Lee Whitaker and a brother Berry (Ricky) Langford.Pallbearers will be Wayne Pieces, Andrew Shrock, Jay Barns, John McDill, Jr., Johnny Hood, Cody Hood and Danny Hood. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Aurora Nursing Home, Ricky Hood, Chandlor Cox, Wade Presley and her grandsons..Visitation will be 5 - 8 Sunday.
