Saltillo - Martha Fikes, 69, met her Savior face to face Friday, February 10, 2012 at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born March 27, 1942 in Lee County to Floyd and Faye Griffie. She was a longtime cosmetologist and most recently worked as a customer service representative at BancorpSouth. She was a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She served her family from a heart of humility and truly embodied the commandment to love thy neighbor as thyself.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM Monday at Belden Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Fikes of Saltillo; three children, Melanie Golding (Danny) of Belden, Craig Fikes (Samantha) of Tupelo and Jason Fikes of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Jean McCarthy (Billy) of Mantachie and Judy Cameron of Fulton; one brother, Kenneth Griffie of Amory; six grandchildren, Zachary Golding (Heather), Whitney Loving, Molly Mitchell Golding, Claire Golding, Taylor Fikes and Garmon Fikes; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Samuel Craig Fikes.
Pallbearers will be Zack Golding, Scott Clouse, Sam Griffie, Matt Stanford, Terry Hamm and Mike Fikes
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 Sunday at the funeral home.
