TupeloMarlene Oatley, 81, died Sunday May 11, 2014 at River Place Nursing Facility in Amory after an extended illness. She was born April 2, 1933 in Breese, IL to Clinton and Ameilia Luebbers Schuchmann. She was married to James H. Oatley and they lived in Beckmeyer and Carlyle, Illinois before moving to St. Louis Missouri. She worked many years in the lighting manufacturing industry. In 1998, they moved to Tupelo to be near family. She loved spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Thursday at Corinth National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
She is survived by her three daughters, Marsha Luebbers (Michael) of Breese, IL, Connie Howard (Henry) of Mooreville and Marla Puckett (Jeff) of Brandon; her brother, Charles Schuchmann of Carlyle, Il; five grandchildren, Michelle Essenpris (Bart), Melissa Lampe (Travis), Matthew Luebbers (Jessi) and Misty Strator (Cory), all of Breese , IL and Paige Valequez of Calico Rock, AR; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 56 years, James H. Oatley who died Dec. 29, 2008.
