Obituary

Tupelo - Marie Smith Holland, 94, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Rosewood Residence where she had been a resident for the past 5 years. She was born May 25, 1915 in Pontotoc County to William and Daisy Smith. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1936. She was a former resident of Fulton and a longtime member of Fulton- First United Methodist Church, a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, as a Bible School Teacher and a member of WSCS. Upon moving to Tupelo, she joined First Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Edelweiss Garden Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, pottery and cooking.Services will be 3 PM Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas Groome and Dr. Charles Holland officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.Survivors include two daughters, Daisy Aycock of Tupelo and Judy Luce and husband, Douglas of Lucedale; four grandchildren, Babs Fulton and husband, Tommy of Destin, FL, Amy Ray and husband, Van of Yazoo City, Laurie vanLingen and husband Peter of Lucedale and Dr. Ladd Luce of Gulf Shores, AL; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Pallbearers will be Van Ray, Peter vanLingen, Tommy Fulton, Dr. Ladd Luce, Wesley Rushing and Nick Snyder.Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church-Tupelo.Visitation will be from 1:30 PM till service time Saturday.click here.
