Okolona - Louis M. Vanlandingham, 68, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 14, 1940 in Bruce to the late Wesley and Lorene Vanlandingham. He was a member of Egypt Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Navy and was a Vietnam War Veteran. His greatest joy was being actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America where he served as scout master of Troop 77. He served the scouts for over 40 years and developed 9 eagle scouts.A memorial service will be 11 AM Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Tackett officiating. A burial at sea will take place at a later date.Survivors include his wife, Linda Vanlandingham of Okolona; three children, Joseph D. (Sheryl) Vanlandingham of Tupelo, John C. (Kathy) Vanlandingham of Montgomery, AL and Darla J. (Tui) Poutoa of Okolona; two sisters, Ruth (Richard) Lacey of Pontotoc and Del (Bobby Gene) Young of Okolona; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Honorary Pallbearers will be the Boy Scouts.The Boy Scouts Yocona Counsel
