Obituary

SaltilloJulia Oakman, 68, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born June 9, 1948, in Ashville, NC, the daughter of Daniel and Clara Howser Callahan. Julia was actually born on the farm that is now the Biltmore Estate. Upon moving to Mississippi she worked as a seamstress for Action Industries until her retirement. Julia loved fishing and spending time with her family.

Services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Zane Lee officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Master Sergeant Lester H. Oakman, US Air Force, Ret. of Saltillo; her children, James Oakman (Sissy) of Madison, MS and Janet Roberson (David) of Knoxville, TN; 2 brothers, Scott Callahan (June) of Fulton and Dan Callahan (Barb) of Brandon; a sister, Patricia Dykes of Cedar Rapids, IA; and 2 grandchildren, Navy Seaman Lance Roberson and LeAnn Roberson, both of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Paul Calahan.

Visitation will be 10 AM to service time Saturday.
