Tupelo - John O'Shields, 68, died suddenly Monday, April 6, 2009. He was born June 15, 1941 in Tupelo to Enoch and Mary O'Shields and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1959 and from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1963. While at Southern Miss, he was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He served in the United States Army Reserve. He was the night manager for Holiday Inn Express and a longtime employee of the Natchez Trace Inn. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a huge Southern Miss football fan and enjoyed traveling and researching family history and civil war history. He was currently arranging his high schools 50th class reunion that is scheduled to take place in two months. He was the caretaker and caregiver for his parents prior to their deaths.Services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.Survivors include one sister, Jennie (Howard) Boone of Tupelo; two brothers, Wayne (Ramona) O'Shields of Memphis, TN and Tom (Pat) O'Shields of Clermont, FL; four nieces, one nephew, nine grandnephews, one grandniece and one great-grandnephew.Visitation will be 1 - 2 Wednesday.click here.
