Saltillo - John Davis, 83, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. He was born November 11, 1928 in Hardin, Tennessee to John and Olga Davis. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a longtime employee of Chrysler/General Motors. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and spending time at Camp Bluebird. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services will be 10 AM Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Matt Westcott officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Davis of Saltillo; four daughters, Millie Bycuff (Doug) of Holly Springs, Debbie Holbrook of Shannon, Teresa Murphree (Mark) and Shelly Powell (Todd) all of Saltillo; fourteen grandchildren, Jason Jacoby, Joni Jacoby, Melissa Boatman, Leanne Gaskill, Terrie Bragg, Kimberly Brazil, Adam Haley, Kristina Davis, John Davis, Savanna Davis, Stacy Trevino, Susie Gunnells, Anna Davis and Madison Sullivan; 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Davis and John Davis; a granddaughter, April Davis and one sister, Ann Higdon.
Pallbearers will be Mark Murphree, Todd Powell, Adam Haley, Larry Teal, Andy Boatman, Alex Floyd and Brandon Benson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Camp Bluebird.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 Friday.
