John Wayne Caldwell, 73, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the AMG Specialty Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Tupelo on September 28, 1952, to John H. and Marie Caldwell. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He worked as a groundsman for North MS Medical Center for many years. He was a Baptist. He loved riding his Harley and was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping and visiting the beach and the mountains. He loved his family and his dog, Snoopy.
Services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with his brother, son and grandson bringing family reflections. Private family burial with Military Honors will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 – 2 Wednesday. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his son, Tony Caldwell (Missy) of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Misty Caldwell of Verona; the mother of John's children, Kim Turner of Greenville, TN; three grandchildren, Kaspar Caldwell (Leah) of Fulton, Isaac Caldwell of Nashville, TN and Silas Caldwell of Nashville, TN; three great-grandchildren, Vivian Richardson, H. Kline Richardson and Monroe Caldwell; his brother, Danny Caldwell (Susan) of Mantachie; a sister-in-law, Janeva Caldwell of Sherman; nephews, Joshua Caldwell (Laura), Brandon Caldwell (Laura Beth) and Matthew Caldwell (Anna); great-nieces and nephews, Katelyn Edger, Grant Edger, Autumn Edger, Kaden Caldwell, Cal Caldwell, Avery Caldwell, Wiley Caldwell and Rorey Caldwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eddy Caldwell; a niece, April Caldwell Martin; his grandparents, Pininnah Jenkins and George and Ruby Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be The Patriot Guard Riders.
