Mooreville - Joe Carnathan, 66, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Princeton Medical Center in Birmingham, AL after a brief illness. He was born July 23, 1945 in Mooreville to Claude and Gladys Carnathan. He was a 1963 graduate of Mooreville High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He and his brother owned and operated Belmont Farm Supply, Mooreville Farm Supply and Amory Farm Supply for several years. He was a longtime building supply salesman, most recently working for Riley Building Supply for the past 17 years. He was an active member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the Mooreville-Richmond Water Association Board and a model train enthusiast. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Buddy.

Services will be 11 AM Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammy Washburn and Bro. Robert McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carnathan of Mooreville; two daughters, Marilyn Reed (Sammy) and Carolyn Green (Jeff) all of Tupelo; two brothers, James Carnathan (Barbara) and Berny Carnathan (Patsy) all of Mooreville; one sister-in-law, Marvinell Carnathan of Fulton; eight grandchildren, Bryan Reed (Mandy), Patrick Green, Brent Reed, Kelsey Gillentine, Anna Green, Rob Herring, Jordan Gillentine and Peyton Reed; his close friend, Scotty Hughes and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Carnathan.

Pallbearers will be Mark Carnathan, Brent Reed, Rob Herring, Daryl Riley, Patrick Green, Chris Hussey and Wayne Morgan. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class members, Employees of Riley Building Supply and board members and employees of Mooreville-Richmond Water Association.
