Jeffrey Craig Elliott, 1949-2025, was called to his heavenly home on May 30, 2025. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in the Auburn community where he still attended every Sunday.
Jeff grew up in a small Illinois town, Canton, Illinois. He graduated from Canton High School and went on to Spoon River College and the Western Illinois University.
At the age of 10, Jeff became the 'paper boy' for the small town of Canton. Even at the early age, in the cold weather up north, the people of Canton never had to worry if they would get their paper. He would load up sleds, wagons or whatever the weather called for to make sure everyone got their daily newspaper. By the age of 12, he was winning contests for delivering and collecting the most money for his paper deliveries.
At the age of 15, Jeff started his career with the Kroger company where he built a career of 48 years with the company. He made many lifelong friends and employees through those 48 years that he cherished forever and to this day. His face would still light up when he spoke of his Kroger days and the places it took him.
Jeff could still name off sports figures and everything about them from many years ago.
He loved everything about ROLL TIDE and was a season ticket holder to Alabama football games for over 20 years. He attended over 150 Alabama games and many other Alabama sports.
Camping at Lake Lurleen with his wife, Lynne, Son and daughter in law made him the happiest man on earth. The memories he left with those who knew and loved him will be cherished forever. If Jeff was camping anywhere in the country with his family, he was at his happiest.
Jeff was a lover of his beer at the end of a hard day. When his work for the day was complete, nothing brought him more happiness than sitting on the porch with his very best friend, Rickey ( Keena) and capping off the day. He believed that was the best reward after a long days work.
Those he leaves behind are his wife of 22 years, Lynne, whom he cherished with every breath. Their love and marriage was one to admire.
His son and pride and joy, Casey Elliott (Daylene) of Cincinnati. Kali Deloach of Tupelo. Terin Bivens ( Abby) of Iuka Ms. And his adopted girl who could melt his heart, Brali Elliott, who lived in the home.
Two loving sisters who love their big brother, Charlotte Svob (Marty) of Canton, Illinois and his baby sister, Connie Reaktenwalt( Gary). Danville, IL.
His grandchildren, Derek Elliott of Cincinnati and Erin Elliott of Cincinnati brought him so much joy and he loved keeping up with their Kroger Careers.
He was overjoyed about his new great grand daughter, Scarlett. And the family will always make sure she remembers PeePaw Jeff.
Jeff has a host of nieces and nephews that he adored and kept up with their lives and it gave him much pride to watch them grow up.
He will join his amazing sister Jackie Burnap ( Rick) in heaven. He missed her every day and looked forward to their reunion one day. His brother in laws were brothers to him for close to 60 years and he adored how they loved his sisters.
He is also preceded in death by his dad, Kenneth Elliott and his mother, Mary Elliott. Their reunion will be joyous.
Jeff asked that there be a gathering or celebration of his life and not a funeral.
There will be a celebration of his life on Tuesday on June 3rd, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. ( casual) at the Pickwick Pines Resort Lodge near Pickwick where he lived. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve their friends.
Nothing would bring him greater joy than to gather with friends .
Please continue to lift Jeff's family and friends in prayer and support over the coming days as they remember and grieve Jeff.
