Obituary

Janie L. Estes went peacefully to her Heavenly Home on August 19, 2018 with her daughter, Gyl, at her bedside. She was born in Tupelo, married Bobby Estes of Nettleton and raised three children. She was a member of Nettleton Pentecostal Church.

She and Bobby opened a specialty clothing store, "Rags for Men and The East Room" that was a benchmark for the Tupelo Fashion World for 42 years. An entrepreneur of sorts, Janie could do anything she set her mind to. She loved decorating, high fashion, her family and good ole gospel music.

She represented strength that could only come from God, fighting life's battles, celebrating life's triumphs and being an overcomer; a very strong mother, the kind you always wanted to be on your side.

She leaves two daughters, Barbara Comer and Gyl Estes of both of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Misty Malone of Pontotoc; two great-granddaughters, Breanne Gist and Anna Claire Gist both of Pontotoc; one sister, Mary Kate Platt and her family, Will Platt, Lark Bennett and Melanie Lynch all of Gulfport; two special cousins, Peggy Seaman and Ruby Sullivan and two nieces, Linda Williams and Debbie Wiggins of Jacksonville, FL and some very close friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Frankie Allen; her husband of 59 years, Bobby Estes; her son, Timothy Michael Estes and a grandson, Austin Taylor Estes.

All services will be private. Entombment will be in Lee Memorial Park's Chapel of Faith Mausoleum. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
