Janie Jones Benefield, age 89, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Traceway Greenhouse. She was born October 7, 1933 to Arlander Jones and Georgia Mae Steele Jones in Itawamba County. She was a Minister's wife and retired from Blue Bell/ Red Cap. She was a member of Thomas Street Baptist Church. She loved growing flowers and completing word search puzzles. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Jimmie Hicks, Debra Bradley, Judy Royce (Richard), Pauline Smith (Barry), Lynn Mize (Thomas), and Sonja Byars; her son, Danny Benefield; brother, Alfred Jones (Rachel); sister-in-law, Geraldine Jones; eight grandchildren, April Steenstra (Justin), Kim Goss (Joel), Cathy Bradley, Will Smith, Casey Malone (Will), Maegan Mize, Joby Byars (Luisa), and Sawyer Byars; six great grandchildren, Abby, Jackson, Cooper, Bailey, Bradley, and Isla.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Benefield; her parents; sisters, Ruby Tucker (Elvie), Lucille Wallace (Mavis), Celeste Jones, Bernice Wilson (Pete); brothers, Sylvan Jones (Ruth) and Larry Jones; sons-in-law, Terry Hicks, Doyle Bradley, and Jimbo Byars; and grandson, Shane Hicks.

Private family service. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
