Obituary

TupeloJames Hugh "Tody" Thompson, 71, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the North MS Medical Center. He was the second of five sons born to Gara Herring Thompson and Erskin Thompson on November 26, 1941 in Union County. He lived most of his adult life in Lee County. He was a Baptist. He served in the military under the Army National Guard Reserve. He loved listening to Gospel music, especially the Chuck Wagon Gang, and watching John Hagee Ministries on TV. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden, growing vegetables and sitting on the back patio watching and feeding birds and squirrels. He was a retired truck driver with Ashley Furniture in Ecru.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Cutrer officiating. Entombment will be in the Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Survivors include his daughter, Theresa "TeeCee" McCullough of Ingomar; three sons, Mike Thompson (Sandy) of New Albany, Geryl Thompson (Rhonda) of Ingomar, and John E. Thompson (Jennifer) of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elgin Thompson (Carolyn) of Hickory Flat and Joe Thompson of New Albany; his wife, Louise Mask Thompson of Tupelo; one special granddaughter, Amy Mask of the home whom they raised as their daughter; a special sister-in-law, Geneva Kabban of Sherman; two step-sons, Gary Mask (Sherry) of Alpine and Wayne Mask (Sherry) of Brewer; and numerous other step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Brenda Thompson Crumpton; and two brothers, Wayne Thompson and Larry Thompson.

The family requests that memorials be made to the North MS Medical Center Inpatient Hospice, 422A E. President St., Tupelo MS 38801.
