Jackie Henry Ray, 85, of Okolona, passed away Friday March 7, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.He was born February 6, 1940 to Andrew Jackson Ray and Clara Bell Weaver Ray in Chickasaw County. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Pearson Chapel Church of the Nazarene. He was known by many names; my darlin, daddy, Jackie Ray, pawpaw, papa and he was loved so much by his large family. He was a true outdoors man, loving fishing, hunting, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with friends; playing dominoes and cards. He loved going to gospel singing and especially enjoyed being a part of the Gospelairs.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sherrell Ray; four children, Tony Ray of Okolona, Phillip Ray (Colleen) of Belden, Tracy Ray (Darla) of Okolona, and B.B. Lollar (Andy) of Okolona; Twelve grandchildren, Levi Ray (Hali), Jessi Cole Ray, Dustin Russell (Jenny), Charlie Thompson (Chuck), McKinnon Ray (Hannah), Michael Ray (Miranda), Matthew Ray, McClain Ray, Trey Davis (Molly), Victoria Jones, Heston Lollar (Jordan), and Blakely Nolan (Auston); eighteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Holst, Patsy Aubuchon (Bobby), and Marilyn Halldorson (Ed); mother of his oldest two children, Elvis Davis; and special caregivers, Haley Grace Jones and Jaqueline Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Jackie Ray.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2025 at Pearson Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Pearson Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Pallbearers will be Levi Ray, McKinnon Ray, Michael Ray, Matthew Ray, McClain Ray, Trey Davis, and Heston Lollar. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the senior adult Nazarene Sunday School Class, Lamar Phillips, Pete Brummett, and Larry Holcomb.
