Helen Smith passed away at Fairlawn Village Care Center, Gresham, OR on July 27, 2018, at the age of 87 years.  Her loving family was at her bedside.  A Native of Saltillo, MS, Helen graduated from Saltillo High School.  Helen retired from the Social Security Administration as a Claims Representative.  During her career she was assigned to various offices in the Southern Region but, at the time of her retirement, she was living in Memphis.  Due to failing health, for the last eight years she has been living in Gresham, OR near her son.  She enjoyed socializing with her friends and participated in many of church functions.  She enjoyed singing in the choir and was recognized as a champion bean bag baseball player.

A celebration of Helen's life will be held Saturday, August 4, at Lee Memorial, 5257 Raymond Avenue, Verona, MS .  Visitation starts at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Chuck Herring officiating.

She is survived by her son, Joe (Harry) Smith and his wife Terri, Sandy of Oregan, 4 grandchildren Angelia Plummer of Oklahoma, Cyndi Long of Nevada, Chris Zorn of Oregon, and Adam Smith of Nevada, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Zorn and Adam Smith and her grandsons-in-law, Jason Long and Rick Plummer.
