Tupelo - H. R. "Dick" Redwood, Jr., 82, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1927 to Harry, Sr.. and Flora Redwood. He was a WW II Navy Veteran attaining the rank of Seaman 2nd Class. He was born and raised in Columbus and moved to Tupelo in 1953. He was a longtime insurance agent starting his career with Standard Life and also worked for Lamar Life and Conseco Life. He was a York Rite Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Robert E. Lee Lodge. He was an active member of All Saint's Episcopal Church and a Lay Reader. He loved music and was an accomplished jazz drummer. He loved spending time with his family.Services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Military and Masonic Honors. Father Paul Stephens will officiate.. Private family graveside services will be in Lee Memorial Park.Survivors include two sons, Charles C. Redwood and Andy M. Redwood both of Tupelo; four step-daughters, Nancy Barnes of Loxley, AL, Mary Culwell of Silverhill, AL, Donna (Kenny) Lowry and Carol (Cary) Palmertree all of Tupelo; one brother, Bob (Joanne) Redwood of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Tyler (Carrie) Redwood, Chris (Amanda) Barnes, Stephanie Barnes, Tyler (Amber) Culwell, Casey Fairchild, Mark (Belinda) Wilson, Michael (Leah) Wilson, Matthew Lowry, Ashley (Mike) Bogle and Blake Brandon; eleven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, H. R. "Richard" Redwood, III and his wives, Nell S. Redwood and Dorothy M. Redwood.Visitation will be 5 - 8 Tuesday and 9 - 11 Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House.
