Glenda Joyce Brown, 83, of Van Vleet, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, following a brief illness. Her faith, generous spirit, and love for others were a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will remain in their hearts forever. Though Glenda will truly be missed, her family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and reunited with those she loved who went before her.

A lifelong resident of the Okolona and Van Vleet community, Glenda was a faithful member of Van Vleet Baptist Church. She was a skilled seamstress in the furniture industry and a homemaker. Glenda and her late husband, Fred, had many pets over the years and she had so much love for each one of them. Glenda also loved to travel in her younger years and went on many cruises and other adventures with her close friends.

Glenda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Fred Brown; her son, John Kennon Brown; her mother, Lurley Weaver; her mother-in-law, Ruby Mae Brown; her father-in-law, John Murphy Brown; and her nephew, Stony Brock.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Brown; her grandsons, John Allen Brown (Lauren) and Charlie Bronc Anderson (Rachael); four great grandchildren, Collins & Keely Brown, and Jace & Brixton Anderson; her sister-in-law, Paula Benoit; her niece, Angie Huddleston (Jim); her great-nieces, Amanda Graham and Brittany West (Glenn); and her great-great-nieces, Paislee Weston and Destinee Anderson, along with many extended family members.

A special thanks goes out to her caregivers Donna Holley and Jessica Stubblefield, NMMC Home Health, her dear friend, Barbara Phillips, and her church community at Van Vleet Baptist Church for their compassion and empathy during her illness.

A memorial service celebrating Glenda’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. There will be a visitation before the funeral service starting at 10:30. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
