EcruGarry Lynn Tate, 61, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at his residence in Ecru. He was born August 28, 1951 in Scottsboro, Alabama to Lacy and Lila Mae Whitaker Tate. He was an exceptional singer, a wonderful father and a well respected friend to many. He owned and operated a longtime family restaurant, Tate's Barbeque for over 20 years. He resided in Tupelo for most of his life and had lived in Pontotoc County the past five years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
Survivors include his daughter, Courtney Tate of Pontotoc, three grandchildren Dalton Hanna, Braylynn Tate and Clayton Tackett.
He was preceded in death by a son, Garry Lynn Tate, Jr. who died October 5, 2009; and two sisters, Linda Faye Porter and Judy Lance.
Pallbearers will be Doug Nelson, Cody Jumper, Billy Hanna, Tony Ray, Gary Scott and John Forsythe.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.
