Okolona - Flora T. Farley Sykes, 93, died Monday, February 08, 2010 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born December 29, 1916 in Hale County, Alabama to Frank and Katie Tingle. She was a longtime resident of Okolona, had resided at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home since 1994 and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a farmer, a caregiver and a babysitter. She was married to John Albert Farley until his death in 1952 and James Sykes until his death in 1992. She loved reading her bible and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by all that knew her.Services will be 2 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Okolona with Bro. Roy McHenry and Bro. Eric Boykin officiating. Burial will be in East Chickasaw Memorial Gardens.Survivors include her children, Pauline Tharp (Jerome) of Okolona, Bernice Farley of Childersburg, AL, James Farley (Judy) of Peppertown, Joyce Scott (Sam) of Pontotoc and Joe Ann Davidson of Houlka; one step-son, Ernie Sykes of Okolona; one sister, Sadie Hicks of West Blocton, AL; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one grandchild Jamie Farley and 12 brothers and sisters.Pallbearers will be Billy Tingle, Shane Tingle, Jeff Pearson, Seth King, Josh Pearson, Jerry Tharp, Tracy Stafford, Jerry Hall and Lynn Davidson.Visitation will be 1 PM until service time Wednesday at the Church.
