Tupelo - Mr. Elmer H. "Sam" Samuelson died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona. He was born August 27, 1934 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Charles and Annie Samuelson. He was retired from Central Service Association where he dedicated 30 years of service. For many years he coached little league baseball; he was an avid hunter and was very involved in activities at Wesley United Methodist Church and at First Evangelical Church. He was past President of the Junior Bowling Association at Rebel Lanes and was a founding member of the Senior Bowling League. He was an aficionado of Starbucks coffee.Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Wood officiating and Dr. Gary Gray assisting. Interment will the in the Garden of the Resurrection at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Alice Blailock Samuelson; One Daughter, Vanessa Warmath (Steve); Two Sons, Tom Samuelson (Rebecca) and Robert Samuelson both of Birmingham; Three Sisters, Jean Wilson and Evon Acker (Don) both of Portland, Oregon and Gerty Wilson of Seattle, Washington; Two Brothers, Fred Samuelson of Pine Hurst, Idaho and Don Samuelson (Mary) of Boise, Idaho; One Brother-in-Law, Bob Blailock (Grace) of Albuquerque, NM; Five Grandchildren, Jourdan Samuelson, Carmen Samuelson, Katherine Samuelson, Betsy Samuelson and Gavin Warmath; numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bob Samuelson.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Group of the Church at Trace Crossing for their home building mission trip to Honduras, P.O. Box 69, Tupelo, MS 38802.Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
