Elizabeth M. Brown, age 85, of Plantersville, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born November 24, 1938 to William Clayburn McGill and Susan Delma Rustin. She was a member of Cedar Grove "Apostolic Life" Church. She enjoyed crocheting, watching westerns and game shows, gardening, bird watching, and above all she loved spending time with all her grandbabies.
She is survived by her son, William E. Abbey of Pontotoc; daughters, Susan Cockrell (Bobby) of Plantersville, Rejeanna Roper (Wade Truelove) of Tupelo, and Elizabeth Baggett (Lee Clemons) of New Albany; brother, William C. McGill Jr. of Tupelo; sisters, Janelle Dye of Randolph, Lynn Harrison of Tupelo, Kathleen Sullivan (Dennis) of Saltillo, and Karrine Ayres (Syd) of Hickory Flat; grandchildren, Shannen Soden (Daniel), Summer Bryant (Josh), Sheena Hester (Michael), Matthew Cockrell (Jessica), Heather Hutchinson (Allen), Kaleigh Hubbard (Cole), Brandon Baggett, William Rustin Baggett, and Kirstin Harden (Rick); twenty great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, JL Brown; her son, Anthony Abbey; her grandson, Stevie Abbey; her parents; and sister, Linda Simms.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Sullivan Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Abbey Cemetery in Pontotoc. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Lee Clemons, Donnie Wilson, Matthew Cockrell, Brandon Baggett, Willis Hopkins, and Will Baggett. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Holland, Wade Truelove, and Bobby Cockrell.
