Obituary

SaltilloElaine Mayben Rakestraw, 74, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A longtime resident of Saltillo, she was born March 2, 1941 in Union County to Leonard and Opal Warren Mayben. She worked for many years at McRae's and Belk Department Store. She enjoyed reading books and was an avid doll collector. Elaine was a faithful member of Saltillo's First Baptist Church. She is remembered as a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Services will be 2 pm Saturday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home with her grandson, Dr. Jeremy Woods officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

She leaves behind her husband of nearly 58 years, Harold Rakestraw of Saltillo; her daughter, Pat Woods (Terry) of Sherman, TX; her grandsons, Dr. Jeremy Ray Woods (Sarah), and Cody Woods (Jamie), all of Sherman TX; great-grandchildren, Spencer James Woods, Grayson Ryder Woods, Levi Daniel Woods, Lucy Grace Woods, and Luke Alexander Woods; her brother, Bill Mayben (Renie) of Tupelo; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Mayben.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, David Mayben and Clarence Mayben and a sister-in-law, Mary Mayben.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
