Saltillo-Dorothy Illk, 79, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born December 28, 1932, in the Old Union Community to Earl and Louise Hester. She was a resident of Stanford, Connecticut for 37 years prior to moving back to Saltillo. She began her career at ITT in Corinth and retired from Clairol. She was a longtime member of First Baptist ChurchShannon. She was an avid cook and artist. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Services will be 2 PM Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Box officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Don Illk of Saltillo; two daughters Donna Illk (Kenneth Wooten) of West Point and Gail Norman of Plano , TX; one son, Ronald Goggins (Becky) of Shelton, CT; three sisters, Mildred Gruber of Saltillo, Virginia Scruggs of Tupelo and Linda Faye Thompson of Shannon; four grandchildren, Christopher (Summer), Rachel, Ellen and Jesse; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Lillian and Henry; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Adrian (Pete) Hester.
Pallbearers will be Ellen Goggins, Jesse Ringness, Kenneth Wooten, Jimmy Hester, Dee Scruggs and Elliott Mincy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Hester, Bobbby Lipford, Christopher Hester and H.D. Scruggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to one of her favorite charities, the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society or ASPCA.
