In the early evening of November 12, 2014 Donna Faye Freeman passed away quietly at home after a long battle with cancer.
Donna was born on November 27, 1933 in Asco , West Virginia, the eldest of 10 brothers and sisters to her parents Virginia Lou (Green) O'Neal and Noble Allen O'Neal , both of whom have passed. One brother, Kenneth Allen O'Neal, and her husband Arthur Freeman, also preceded her in death .
At all her various her places of employment Donna was a tireless and dedicated employee. Her jobs including waitressing and working in the Housekeeping Dept of a Springfield Illinois hospital. She had worked in factory settings as well, for Leggett & Platt and Superior Products, in various positions including being a supervisor. Her last position was as a devoted caretaker for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bush of Tupelo.
Donna was devoted to her family above all else. She was a wonderful cook and was a very talented singer. As a young girl she often sang in church and also on the radio on Sundays. She continued to enjoy music her entire life.
Surviving Donna are her son Gregory Allen Stafford of Missouri City, Texas, his wife Paulette and his children Stacey Hancock of Tupelo, Shawn Stafford of Nettleton, Ms, and Breanne Ward of The Woodlands, Tx., her son Terry Ray Stafford of Pensacola, Florida, his wife Lynette and his children Jason, Scott ,Wesley ,and Joseph all of Pensacola, and her daughter Debra Kay Boyd, her husband Roger of Girard Illinois, and their son Cody Boyd of Springfield Il. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
Donna will be greatly missed by her surviving siblings as well. They are Carol (O'Neal Rubio of Tupelo, Patricia (O'Neal) Murphy of Saltillo, Linda (O'Neal) Thompson of Okolona, Charles O'Neal of Plantersville, Aleta Jo (O'Neal) Fox of Creole Springs, IL, Kermit O'Neal of Houston ,Tx., Noble O'Neal of Tupelo, and Michael O'Neal of Rochester, NY., as well as their families.
We will celebrate Donna's life on Sunday, November 16, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona, MS, with the service and burial to follow directly after. She will be carried to rest by Terry Stafford, Greg Stafford, Scott Stafford,Shawn Stafford, Cody Boyd, and Wesley Stafford, acting pallbearers.
