Egypt - Cleo Thompson, former resident of Egypt, MS, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Baldwyn Nursing Facility where she had lived the last 3 years. Cleo was one of five children born to Andrew and Maude Thompson of Egypt, MS. Cleo was born January 15, 1911 in the same house as she lived for most of her 98 years. After graduating from Egypt High School, she attended M.S.C.W. in Columbus, MS and transferred to Bowling Green Kentucky Business College. She helped build World War II aircraft in Prairie, MS; was a clerk at Delta Trouser, Okolona; and also at the Houston Hospital, and was involved in the family businesses of general merchandising and their farming operation there in Egypt. She, along with her parents, was very involved in the Egypt Baptist Church where Cleo volunteered as Secretary/Treasurer. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening and family gatherings. She loved bird watching, and collected bird items for the house.Services will be 11 AM Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eric Boykin officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery in Chickasaw County.She is survived by one brother, Harold Thompson and wife Rosemary of Saltillo; a sister-in-law, Irene Thompson; nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Parrent and husband O.C. (Tony); Andrew (Andy) Cutler and wife, Sandi; Fred Thompson and wife, Susan; Charles Thompson and wife, Marge; Kathleen Stokes and husband, Ray; Harold (Hal) Thompson and wife, Susan; Eileen Meis and husband, Kevin; Colleen Ray and husband, Philip; and many great (and great-great) nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special cousin and friend, Eleanor Jaggers of OkolonaShe was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Thompson who died in 1909 and Ansel Thompson who died in 2009; one sister, Grace Cutler who died in 1977; a niece, Maureen Thompson who died in 1995 and one nephew, Harry Wayne Cutler who died in 2005. The family thanks the nursing home staff and hospice staff who were so valuable to us in Cleo's care. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM Saturday.
