AMORY - Charles E. "Pop" Peoples, 78, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Pell City, Ala., on April 9, 1934, to Tommy and Alpha Mae Peoples. He was a retired employee of Elger. He enjoyed attending auctions, gardening and selling produce, fishing and going dancing with his wife, Jewell.
There will be no services. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Thompson Peoples of Amory; his children, Darlene Peoples-Stokes of Atlanta, Ga., Daryl Peoples of Winter Haven, Fla., Debra Peoples-James of Jacksonville, Fla., Joy Peoples-Smith (Donald) of Nettleton, Kenneth Peoples of Nettleton and Dale Peoples of Stiglar, Okla.; his brothers and sisters, Tommy J. Peoples Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C., Dennis Brown of Frostproof, Fla., Nona Faye Burks of Woodville, Ala., Vernie C. Corley of Haines City, Fla., Bobbie Jean Land of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Jane Hubbard (Jerry) of Etworth, Ga., Robert C. Brown of Auburndale, Fla., and Marie Mahulin (David) of Barto, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Pam Corbell of Amory; his stepson, John Oliver of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandsons, Ray Jennings (Heather) of Ecru and Matthew Smith of Nettleton; numerous great-grandchildren including Andrew Jennings; and a stepgrandson, Brandon Corbell of Amory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J.W. Peoples; and a granddaughter, Amanda Jennings.
