Mantachie - Charles Keeton, 76, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the North MS Medical Center. He was born September 16, 1935 in McCool to Bill and Leila Manus Keeton. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army serving two tours. He worked as a farm manager for many years. He enjoyed long drives, Ford trucks, John Deere tractors, mowing the lawn and telling stories. He loved his family and his faithful companions, his Rat Terrier Lil' Bit and his Chihuahua Phil whom he affectionately called The Boys.
Services will be 1 PM Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Robison and Rev. William Milam officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Keeton of Mantachie; two daughters, Anita Carver of Jackson and Shelia Kolle (Scott) of Starkville; three sons, Charles "Bubba" Keeton, Jr. of Carrollton, Kenny Davenport (Sue) of Amory and James Davenport (Sonia) of Guntown; four sisters, Ruth Meece (Russell) of Eupora, Peggy Sheffield (Ed Wayne) of Indianola, Mary Rutledge (Joe) of Philadelphia and Alice Sullivan (Colon) of Independence; one brother, Bill Keeton, Jr.(Linda) of Tulsa, OK; his aunt, Virgie Wood; six grandchildren, Darby Scott Kolle, Alicia Davenport, Adam Davenport, Lauren Davenport, Monica Davenport and Blake Davenport; one great-grandchild, Hollie Grace Petty; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Hattie Keeton, Nancy Morgan and Della Simpson; two brothers, Alford Keeton and Jimmy Keeton.
Pallbearers will be Willard Vance, Chase Jefcoat, Nicky Rutledge, Danny Denson, Larry Williams, Jeremy Bass, Michael Benjamin and Glen Jefcoat.
Visitation will be 11 - 1 Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Red Cross or United Way Tornado Relief Funds.
