MadisonCathy Stalnaker Thornton Hartzog, 60, died August 23, 2013, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, she was born August 28, 1952, the daughter of Harold and Peggy Stalnaker. She graduated from Tupelo High School and received her graduate degree from Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi College. She worked as a registered nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center and then after moving to Madison in 1989, worked for Network 8 as CQI coordinator, retiring due to her health. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church while living in Tupelo and Traceridge Baptist Church in Madison. A truly genuine and warm individual, she enjoyed most the time spent with family and friends and caring for her special pets including her dog, "Beau".
Services will be 3 pm Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Rooney Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. .
Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Denis Hartzog of Madison; her mother, Peggy Stalnaker of Tupelo; three children, Denny Hartzog (Crystal) of Brandon, Jacob Hartzog of Rincon, Georgia and Skyler Hartzog (Joseph) of Rincon, Georgia; her sister, Nancy Clements (Paul) of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Xan and Ash Hartzog; a sister-in-law, Cindy Hartzog; a special niece, Lindsey Turner (Dan) of Tupelo; and several other nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be Denis Hartzog, Jr., Jacob Hartzog, Jeseph Austin, Dan Turner, Dennis Stafford and Sonny Jones.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Gary Thornton
