Carolyn McGee Tidwell, 86, went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born on September 12, 1936 in Baldwyn, MS to Milton and Mable McGee. She was a graduate of Baldwyn High School and Northeast Junior College.
She married Clarence Tidwell on December 31, 1959. Their relationship was one to be modeled. They shared 62 years of marriage until his passing on November 5th of this year. They made their home in the Brewer community. She was a homemaker while her children were young and kept a meticulous home and yard. In later years, she worked with her husband for a time in their family wholesale plumbing business.
She was a faithful member of Brewer Baptist Church since 1965. She did the Sanctuary floral arrangements for Sunday services, served as church treasurer, and Sunday school secretary for many years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher and VBS teacher. She loved studying God's word through weekly women's Bible studies and read through the Bible many times. She also volunteered at the Faith Food Pantry in Nettleton.
A lover of birds and flowers, she spent a great deal of time outdoors enjoying nature. She was a voracious reader of novels and literature and loved sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed games, puzzles and a weekly ladies card group for many years. Being in a family of University of Alabama fans, she collected elephant figurines.
Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She eagerly and enthusiastically attended countless activities, events, games and programs of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an integral part of their lives, always willing and available to help care for her grandchildren.
