Born on July 25, 1940, in Saltillo, MS to Russell and Norine Barksdale, she passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN. She was married to Bernie Lewis for 23 years, and Ken Liner for 14 years. She leaves behind 2 children, Russell H. Lewis and Kimberly L. Clark; as well as, daughter-in-law, Angie G. Lewis; son-in-law, Glenn Clark, 5 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren, all who knew her as Mema. She also leaves her sister, Sue C. Gregory; and her brother, Bob Cummings, as
well as many nieces and nephews. She joyfully attended Evangel Church and loved to serve in every way, especially enjoying the time she dedicated to being a Church Greeter, her time with Sunshine Kids and at
the Welcome Center. She was the former owner of Bernie's Pizza and the Possum Town Depot. Her last job was as a receiver for Metso. She did not like retirement, all she knew was working hard. She brought joy, laughter, hugs, and love to many, many people. She loved to read and to cook wonderful southern meals and made the world's best dressing. She had healing hands and nursed many of us back to health, both physically and spiritually. She loved singing in church, even if it was a little off key. She was a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman with deep convictions and a heart of gold. She was an angel on earth and will always be an inspiration to the ones she loved."Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." -- Anas Nin.
