Boyd Shanks, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, in the early morning hours on Friday, January 31, 2025 at his home. He was born in Columbus, MS on March 15, 1968 to Boyd Eugene, Sr. and Shirley Ann Wooten Shanks. He worked in the construction field as an electrician most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses. He was of Baptist faith.

A Memorial Service will be 4 PM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Galloway officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Free Shanks of Tupelo; his mother, Shirley Honnoll of Columbus; his children, Cheyenne Shanks of Japan and Corey Shanks of Tupelo; two sisters, Gloria Berry (Ray)  and Windy Miller (Chris) all of Columbus; one brother, Adam Cross of Columbus; four grandchildren including, Peyton Shanks, Brianna Shanks and Levy Shanks; his mother-in-law, Margaret Free of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be 3-4 Saturday.
