Obituary

Okolona--Birdie Phillips, 91, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Chickasaw County on September 6, 1919, to Jim and Maudie Cruse. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Okolona. She was an accomplished seamstress working for Delta Trouser/Indian Creek until they closed. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and fishing, but her greatest joy was her family, especially her granedchilddren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eric Boykin officiating,. Burial will be in Boone's Chapel Cemetery

Survivors include her daughter, Elvis Davis of Okolona; two sons, Lamar Phillips (Barbara) of Van Vleet and Jerry Phillips (Avis) of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
