Billy Miles, 88, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at the MS State Veteran's Home in Kosciusko. He was born February 26, 1934, in Walker County, AL to Woodruff Eli "Rusty" and Pernie Miles. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, he enrolled at the University of Mississippi and graduated in 1959, being the first from his family to graduate from college. He made his home in Verona after marrying the love of his life, Edith Hester Miles, a union that lasted for 56 years. He was a master plumber and started M & K Plumbing with his brother in law, Max Knight. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Verona. He was an old car enthusiast and was a charter member of the North MS Cruisers Car Club. He taught himself to play the guitar with help from the Monday Night Pickers. He loved spending time with his family.
Services will be 11 AM Friday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Cary Simmons will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his son, Van Miles (Nancy) of Starkville; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Miles of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Miles Petrovics (Jarrod), Dr. Royce Vandiver Miles, Jr. (Anna) and Porter Lee Miles; two great-grandchildren, William Palmer Petrovics and due in May, Eleanor Grace Miles; a very special part of the family, Cary Simmons; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith Miles; one son, Kenneth Miles; an infant daughter, Nancy Laverne Miles; two sisters, Lillie Mae Blake and Louise Powell; one brother, Jimmie Miles.
Pallbearers will be Richard Haygood, Jarrod Petrovics, Vincent Miles, Cary Simmons, Dr. Royce Miles and Porter Miles. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the North MS Cruisers Car Club and the Monday Night Pickers.
Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 Friday.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of MS State Veteran's Home and Quality Hospice for their superb care during his stay.
